Romans 14:1, 4
1 Receive one who is weak in the faith, but not to disputes over doubtful things. 4 Who are you to judge another’s servant? To his own master he stands or falls. Indeed, he will be made to stand, for God is able to make him stand.
It is not an easy task to accept people as they are. Each person has a different substance in them and it is very difficult to ‘accept’ everyone. Especially if the believer is weak, there is a common tendency of ‘irritation’ among others. Romans chapter 14 is a strong warning against this!
Now, who are we to term a person as ‘weak’? We have our own weaknesses! In truth, we are blind to our weaknesses most of the time.
We easily pass comment over others and their conduct. If things seem unacceptable to us, we claim those actions to be sinful and we may even go to the extent of admonishing our sister/brother to follow our way. And if they change to our pattern, we feel contented that we have made one person come in the ‘true’ (as our conscience) way!
But the word of God doesn’t accept this. We should not unnecessarily pass comments or judge our fellow believers. We should have a heart to accept everyone who believes as servants of God and its not just ‘us’. The word of God says, “Indeed, he will be made to stand, for God is able to make him stand.” Judgement is for God to decide and not for us. The faith which we have, we should have it as our own conviction before God (Romans 14:22) and not exercise it upon others.
And, that’s why we need to do things in the ” Jesus’s way ” and not “our way”.
May God forgive the times we judged our brothers and sisters. May God be gracious to us and give us a heart to accept people wholeheartedly. Let our hearts be opened in the love of Christ. Jesus was open in love and He was ready to touch even a man with leprosy (who has considered as outcast during that period).
Can we do that? Can we touch the hearts of ‘less loved’ people with the same love of Christ?
Do it the ‘Jesus’s way’!
God bless you…
